hi guys i want to get into flash/studio photog and i dont know much and, im also on a budget. My first idea was to get a 580 exll and just get a westcott soft box kit for it and doing the single light strobist thing. but then i seen the westcott StrobeLite 300ws 2-Head Educational Lighting Kit for $500 at my local store which got me thinking should i just go for studio lighting instead of the speed light!? and just right now i was lurking on good ol' craigslist and came across this company that i never heard of before named linco inc. http://www.lincoinc168.com/ so i check out the page and they have some awesome prices for the set ups they offer (or so it seems) and they are like a 20 min drive away from me wich isnt bad at all. but i am afraid that it is really really cheap stuff and it might take a dump on me sooner then later.

well my guestion is has any of you heard of them!? do you think its a good thing to try them out since it is so cheap local and in my 500 (give or take a little) budget. or should i just stick with known product!?

They're not on reseller ratings, there are spelling and grammar mistakes on their website, and i've never heard of them. If they're local go visit. Generally you get what you pay for.

From their 'about us' map, they are in Santa Fe Springs. On that map they use the Britek name. Britek makes cheap Chinese made photo lighting and associated gear. I looked at the Britek stuff at one of the old camera swap meets they used to hold in Buena Park. From the build quality I saw, I'd classify it as junk.

really so you dont think its even worth the time on heading down there to check it out? hmm thanks for letting me know now i have half the mind to go down there. i might just stay with my original plans now. but what do you guys think is better or would benefit me the most the studio lighting or the 580 with soft box?

i kinda would like to be portable sometimes but i also want great lighting....
