Sigma's EF-530 DG SUPER EO-ETTL II, EF-530 DG ST EO-ETTL II, EM-140 DG EO-ETTL II, EF-500 DG SUPER EO-ETTL II and EF-500 DG ST EO-ETTL II do not operate roperly with Canon EOS 50D D-SLR camera. To overcome this, we will start supplying a free-upgrade service to our customers today.
Please notice that this problem occurs with the EOS 50D D-SLR camera only.

We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused to our customers.
Upgrade will be required to overcome the following problems

1. The Autozoom function does not work properly.
2. Exposure is not correct.

All 500's seem to be affected, some 530s (serial numbers are listed on the link above). Any new ones have a sticker on the box saying "50d compatible"

Has anyone had this firmware upgrade done on their flash yet?

well Im in trouble... mine doesn't work, exposure goes crazy, and flash zoom just goes bla bla... any fix? or should I contact sigma?

Start with the usual suspects: batteries and perhaps a better connection to the hot shoe.

it worked for me on 20D, it worked fine... I upgraded to 50D and it doesn't work, it messes up exposure of the camera... could this damage my new baby? I did some tests... now scared of frieing 50D,

? So how are you in trouble? Sigma acknowledges the problem and offers free repair service. Just contact your nearest Sigma service point and sent in your flash.
