Alright guys,

I am sick of sitting here reading these threads of these amazing events that people have gone and shot and then kicking myself in the arse for not knowing about it!

Anyone care to share up comming events? Thought maybe we could have this one thread where people can post different things coming up so that we all can enjoy.

Any Rally Stuff in ontario?
Any Drag Racing?
Any winter events coming up, snow cross or something?

Visit the online list of racetracks, (http://www.speedwaysonline.com/) and use that to check each track's listing of 2009 events.

I keep thinking about heading to Flamboro Speedway on Hwy 6 sometime. I only live 10 mins away but never seem to find the time or make the effort. If you want to go let me know & I'll be game.

I drive in a few open lapping days and club days at Mosport, Dunnville, TMP and Shannonville. Once they are booked and confirmed I'll try to remember to post into this thread.

The PMRA drag racing series has two events in Ontario confirmed for 2009. Victoria Day weekend at Cayuga Dragway and Labour Day at Grand Bend Motorplex. Others will be in PA and MI, hopefully one in NY. More info will be posted on www.promodifiedracing.com when all the dates are confirmed.

There are some great events in your area. Sunset Speedway is just up the road and runs every Saturday night during the summer. Mosports has an ALMS race in Aug and Mosport has great oppurtunities to get great shots. Also there is a weekly track in Barrie that runs Saturday nights too. They have a Nascar Canadian Tire Race every year around Canada Day. Also every year they have the Barrie Grand prix which is a go kart race that offers new challanges. Hope this helps

Just a few things that have come to mind, but schedules won't be out until spring most likely...

Paris Ontario (near Woodstock) has a Speedway track that runs races every week if you like the sideways running dirt bikes!

The Mosport schedule also has Koni Challenge, Canadian Tire Series NASCAR, AMA Superbikes, Mustang Challenge Cup, Formula Ford. Lots of opportunities there.

Also check the website for TMP in the spring, they host a few lapping days and driver schools exclusively for exotic cars.

The CASC forums have sections for Canadian Touring Car Championships, Solo1, AutoX, Rally, Ice Racing and open lapping ...

Tall Pines is a PITA anyways, by the time the good cars get out the light's already fading and it's sub-zero (I played hockey in Bancroft and man that place gets cold!).

Rally Sport Ontario is updating their list: http://www.rallysport.on.ca/

Bosscat is your man to talk to about snowcross/snowmobile/winter stuff as I know he goes into Snowmobile racing mode around this time and is local to Ontario. There's a bunch of CSRA events throughout the winter that I am tempted to attend, might be interesting to get some fellow Ontario POTN'ers together for it.

As far as next season goes, I am still waiting to hear back on a number of schedules to be confirmed but here's what I know so far:

- VW has signed another deal with Mosport to do the VW Jetta TDI Cup next season, this is usually the season opener on Victoria Day.
- Koni backed out of the Father's Day weekend at Mosport due to scheduling conflicts, talks were going on but it looks like Mosport is trying to find a filler race for this event next season.
- Formula Atlantics have signed a deal to take part in the ALMS weekend at Mosport which is going to be a pretty big ordeal, these guys have insane lap times.

The rest of the events such as Solo, SoloSprints, Lapping Days and Parts Canada Superbikes probably won't get announced/booked until the spring so keep an eye out then for anything there.

too bad about the Koni Cup, I really enjoyed it this summer.

Yeah, welcome to the growing world of motorsports where money reigns supreme and contracts are pretty much null & void if you're not a top bidder.

With the Montreal F1 gone I am looking to the Brazilian GP to get my F1 fix next year or possibly the Chinese GP. For other events I may just look towards Mid Ohio road trips or something as the US has loads more events if you're willing to drive a bit.

aye, I'm considering a trip to Watkins Glen maybe - hopefully to drive my own car at a lapping day!!!

I thought you sold or were trying to sell the Mustang?

Not4you

It hasn't sold yet but hopefully it will in the spring. Its in storage now and good thing, we got burried again last night!!

I'll be replacing it with another in short order once it sells. I found the car I want but my wife won't let me have two at once :(

The new one will not see the track too much, more just shows and the like, but I'll probably still be at the track days riding with people instructing - and now taking pics of course!!

If the car I am after sells before I get a chance at it, I'll be keeping mine and tracking it.

Man, it's going to be a long winter ...

Nice, I was in the same boat expected to have my GTI on jacks over the winter to get some parts work done on it and whatnot til those bastards stole it from the GO station.

Should buy a Scooby, winter is when the fun begins with those cars ;) As far as the wife, tell her that it's your mid-life crisis come early haha.

at the one CSRA race (chicopee) i went to last year, you didn't make it past the spectator fence without a pass. That said, i took some pretty good pics from where i was standing. Not sure about all the other tracks, but some good pics can be had from the spectator spots i was at.

Not sure if you are into motocross, but if you know someone that can get you on the track with credentials, RJ's MX track just north of Barrie is half decent. Again to get on track you'll need some paperwork.
Alot of the other tracks don't require this as of last year. The biggest "local" MX race would be the Walton Transcan in mid august. It's the last CMRC national of the year. Gopher Dunes just south of Courtland normally has a national at it to, it's july 25th/26th '09 There's also a CMRC provincial race almost every weekend.

provincials (not updated yet)- http://cmrcracing.com/schedules/view_regional.aspx?Region=Ontario+-+South+Western

For some of the road racing events, join the forums, and see when they are having club days, i know almost every club will have an official or unofficial club day at many tracks throughout the year. Not4You could keep you updated on the GTAMC days when the stangs will be out and about, or better yet, join the forum and check back occaisionally (or on thursday or fridays to see if they are going on the weekend)

Hi! My first post to the forum. I'm new to POTN, but a long time motorsport fan and racer. There should be amateur ice racing most winter weekends in ON and NY:

Over the winter there's a few things to check out:

The Motorsports Club of Ottawa (www.mco.org) holds winter snowcross events, and of course there's always the CASC Magnum Ice Racing series up in Minden.

The Maple Leaf Rally Club has a few rallies. I've never shot a rally event myself, but I've seen some spectacular pictures from others so it would be well worth it.

For me, I just shoot indoor go-karts whenver I go, since I'm too pansy to be outdoors ;)
