I took a number of shots at an engagment celebration in a poorly lit restaurant. Although this one is 'grainy', I like the feeling it gives. I love pictures where expressions seem natural or pure. Any thoughts?
Shot at: 1/5, f/5.6, ISO1600.
I've ordered a 50mm, f1.8 lens. I hope it helps in these tyes of conditions.

i live it. would have loved to see a tighter dof and had the guy out of focus and her in focus. nice capture though. love her expression.

Thanks Dante. Her expression is what really draws me to this shot.

I like it. :) It's not completely in focus of course, but that makes me feel like I just caught a glimpse of her catching a glimpse of me. I wouldn't change anything. :)

Getting the focus in the right place would have helped in these conditions.... ;) Real pity, because the expression and composition are nice.

Thanks for the comments Rene. I thought maybe the 50mm, f1.8 would let me bring the ISO level down to 800 and give me more light to work with, faster shutter speed and thus less camera shake. And of course - better focus.

It is a nice expression.

use an editor and just reduce the focus on the man at the lhs.
taken at F5.6 so a F1.8 would give you a few stops (F4,F2.8,F2)
however, focus is critical.

Thanks Ben and Cactusclay.
Etaf, I took your advice and tried some blurring of the man. I used the blur tool on the first revision which is very subtle. The second is a gaussian blur with the outline of the man smudged. This cetainly places more focus on the girl.

I think it's a great shot...just something about the expression on her face is priceless.
