All I have currently is the Xti, 430ex, 55-250, 50mm and kit lens.... when I got my camera I purchased the Canon bag for it, but it is so bulky and not easy to carry around. I mostly do portrait photography.... and I want a backpack.. at about $130 or less.. what would you say?

I have a Kata 3N1-30 bag which can be a sling bag over either shoulder or a traditional backpack. It holds a camera with lens (up to a 70-200) and at least 4 other lenses (under 6 inches long) It also has a separate upper section that is larger enough to hold all the extra "stuff" you take along. It runs around $100 and is widely available.

I have purchased two backpacks in the past year, both a great deal, I think. Now before you discount this reply as worthless, you may be very happy to follow my lead (maybe not !). I began looking for a decent pack on ebay. I found one that at the time was listed for .64. So I bid $1.00 and won the pack at .68. I didn't expect much, but when I got the pack I was amazed at the quality of the thing. It was huge, as I later found out it was too big to really carry, but it was a nice pack. So I set out looking for another, same deal, but this one cost about $1.50 plus the $9.00 shipping. It came from Adorama and is perfect, holds two canon digitals, with attached lenses and all the extras that I need and much more. I'm one of those guys that would rather buy a new something or other for my cameras, or a trip than spend $100.00 on a bag. So you may want to check out such a deal on ebay. Just a thought ! By the way I have had the second smaller pack to Yosemite, and other trips and it was comfortable and offered plenty of support for my back as well as proctecting my equipment.

Check the Tamrac Expedition 4. That's what I got for about the same amount of gear. Very well made, well-padded straps, attachment points for water bottles, other lenses, etc. Small enough for city walking; the Exp 5 is a bit larger. Exactly that price.
