This was taken tonight, the first day with the new Speedlite 580 EX on my 20D. OH MY! THIS IS GOING TO BE FUN.

The image is simply of a glass oil lantern, and the upper part of the flame is actually three other lanterns in the distance, but makes for a very nice illusion as a single flame. Program Mode: 75mm, 1/60 at f5.6.

Feel free to comment.

Question: Why in some modes do I get all the exif data and in others, only a very simple, short list? With the short list you can't tell what mode you were shooting. Curious?

Nice shot. Did you by chance upgrade from the 550 EX?

Mills,

The flash was not an upgrade purchase. It's actually my first non-built-in flash in probably 20 years with various gear. I was sold on the extraordinary technology and with a new 20D was a very easy descision to go this route with the 580 EX. So far, I am bowled over by the quality of flash photos with this combination.

The trailing flames are a neat effect....keep 'em coming
