Hi , i just joined and wanted to say hi !
I plan on going digital , I will get a used 10D and a laptop for use in the field
I shoot Doggy Shows on the weekends mainly action , jumping running etc ,some dogs are real fast ie greyhounds
I have been using and selling shots from an old 630 and a 10S so the 10D should do the job.
Now for my question will the software that comes with the 10D enable me to display the pictures adequately to clients, thumbnails are no good
Another question will my tokina 400 5.6 work with the 10D
Looking forward to some replies Cheers Petographer

Welcome petographer :) You'll get less replies in this forum that the "Canon EOS" forum, but you'll get some.

The 10D is a great camera, the question is really the lens for what you want to do. With a F5.6 lens you'll probably have to increase the ISO quite a lot, and you'll end up with noisy pictures. Personally i'd go for something faster, F2.8 might be enough for you. Something like the Canon or Sigma 70-200 F2.8 lenses would work well, perhaps with a 1.4X or 2X teleconvertor.

I can't answer the Tokina question. If it's EF mount it should be ok, though there's a chance you'll have to focus manually.

The screen on the 10D is quite small, but you can plug into an external TV quite easily, which should be a lot better that the little screen. The cable comes wtih the camera.

Hope that helps :)
