Downloader alternatives

I'm looking for a downloader that offers the following features:

1 - Works from a card reader, not just the camera
2 - Will allow me to select the images that I want to download from a set of thumbnails and rename them as they download to a specified directory.

I recently used the wizard in Windows XP which astonishingly did what I wanted. I do not, however, use XP nor do I have any plans to in the future. Can anyone reccommend anything that will give me the same functionality?

Downloader from www.breezesys.com does that, it is free.

Downloader, while a nice little program, does not do most of what I want. It has no preview or thumbnail view and it does not rename the images, only the directory.

I looked at ACDSee but I don't think it had the renaming of images feature. I know I uninstalled it because for $80 I want all of the features I want. I read about the other program that you mentioned - Cam2PC - but I've been unable to download it. The link you sent doesn't work, nor does the link on the author's web site or the link for webattack. Any other ideas on where I might download it?
