Hi All, does anyone know if the the lowepro slingshot 100 or 200 will fit a 40d with a sigma 70-200. another question are there straps on the bag to hold a monopod? Thanks for the help

I don't know about the Sigma, but the Slingshot 200 will take the 40D and the Canon 70-200 f/4. It doesn't have straps for a monopod, but I believe there are ways around that.

Yeah, no straps for a monopod, and I can fit my 1D MkIIn and 70-200 f/2.8 L IS but it's a tight fit, you can't use the quick access and that's about all you'll get in it. If you separate them you can get a few more lenses in, but I'm also looking at the Lowepro Flipside 400 AW. As nice as the slingshot was, it doesn't hold heavy gear comfortably.

If you were to go up to the 300, the 70-200 will fit easily (hood reversed) as will a 100-400 (again, hood reversed...)

With a little creative engineering, you can get a suprising amount of gear in a 300...

I had the slingshot and went to the flipside (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/531354-REG/Lowepro_LP35187_PEU_Flipside_300_Backpack_Red_Blac k_.html). The slingshot was a nice bag but the access was limited. I had to take my bag off to get out a different lens. It was nice to be able to get your camera and the lens that is attached to it but the fun seemed to stop there. The flipside allows you to access all of you gear and rest comfortably while you get what you need. There is also a monopod holder on the front of these. They also just came out with the 400.

What i am really looking for is a backpack that has easy access preferably not have to take it off and can has room for other stuff. I am trying to have a day bag that i can have most if not all of my camera gear and be able to have things in my one bag. Any recommendations?

Try the Kata 3N1 series. Like the Slingshots but you can make them into backpacks.

You can look at the Fastpack which is more comfortable (2 shoulder straps instead of 1) than the Slingshot, for heavier weight and it has an added compartment on the top for sandwiches, rain jacket...etc...

I have the 200 and it holds a 40D with 70-200 f4 IS with room to spare. Also room for a Tamron 28-75, Canon 10-22 and Canon 85 1.8... but that's it. With that combination, you can have any of those lenses mounted and the others stowed away.

See my vid of a 30D and Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS being removed from a Slingshot 200. There is room in the bag to have a 40D and 100-400 behind the 30D and 70-200, or for wide options, a 40D with mounted 10-22 (hood reversed) and a loose 17-55 (hood reversed). I can just squeeze in the 40D with mounted 17-55, with the 10-22 loose, but that is a tighter fit. Of course, 30D/40D/50D - any of them are interchangeable as far as fitting them in the bag is concerned.

Check out post 23 in this thread for a sample layout. I have now moved the two smaller sections to the rear so that I have my big lens on the outside.

There are loops sewn to the bag for a monopod

I called Lowepro the other day to ask if they sold any accessories which would help connect a tripod to the 200. They said "no", that the bag was really designed to let you slide it around your body to get the camera out quickly, and having a tripod attached would defeat that purpose. Nonetheless, I suppose one could find a way to use the attachment straps that are on the bag in a pinch.

I ended up deciding to carry my tripod on a shoulder strap separately. Easier to drop it to the ground and slide the camera bag around into position if I want to move quickly.

I think I have decided to get the flipside 200, you can get stuff out with out having to take it off or at least all the way off and it opens in the back which makes me feel a whole lot better.
