I was invited by a friend to the Flyers game this sunday, and would like to bring my camera. We have seats right behind the penalty box, so the view should be pretty good. I checked the website, and it says no video or audio equipment, but nothing about cameras. I'm guessing its ok to bring it?

19. Are cameras permitted in the Wachovia Center?
Still cameras only, no professional lenses are permitted in the arena. No video is allowed.

Are your 70-200 2.8L and 28-70 2.8L lenses considered "professional lenses"?
We all hate the term "professional lenses". I was just checking the exact same question for the Wizards tonight... they've got a clearer rule "no detachable lenses".
But at least you have a chance at persuading the security guard that since you're a 16 y.o. kid doing this for a hobby and not a profession, then they shouldn't be considered "professional" lenses.

I know that's what it says on the Verizon Center web page but I was at a Caps game last weekend and I talked to a security guard at the door (the side door where they have the tables setup for people bringing in large bags) and went to the guest services window to get confirmation. They all said no video, no tripods and no blocking other people's view but that anything else is okay. While watching the game there was a guy two seats in front of me with a Rebel and 55-250 lens and apparently he brings it all the time. One of the people I was there with said her husband always brings his Nikon D300 and 80-200 lens.
Don't know if it applies to Wizards games but I'm thinking about going getting a ticket for a week night game when it isn't as crowded. 200 level up at the front gives a very nice view without the glass getting in the way.

Thanks Ken.
I had good luck at the Nationals... their rule is lenses <6", so I brought a 70-300mm IS.
I went to 4 Redskins games this year... their rule is all lenses are OK. So I bring my 50-500mm Bigma.
I want to go to the Wizards and the Caps, so I'll probably bring my 40D with a 85/1.8 attached and my 70-200/4L IS in my hoodie front pocket.

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping. Or just the fact that a 16 year old kid shouldn't be able to afford "pro" stuff
