Okay, I went here at night with a flashlight and my 18-55mm not expecting to find much. I was planning on using the spot for a shoot this weekend during the day, but I decided to take some fun photos while I "scouted" the area. Here are some. I used a flash-light to outline the graffiti with a 30-second exposure. I'm sorry if the PP is a bit much on some of these...

You can see some of my shadows in the photos, sorry haha.

Note: I am sort of against taking straight photos of graffiti since it's basically taking someone else's art... it's HOW you capture the graffiti that makes it special...

I rather love these .. it is an excellent use of light painting and I must admit to filing it away in the "things to try" category. Vandalism and street art has a fine dividing line.

bw!

Thanks for posting.

As an ex-graffiti artist I can tell you that back in the day (early to mid 80's in Australia) 'getting up' by having someone photograph my work would have been awesome. OK there was no internet back then but I reckon most of us were in it for the 'fame'.

So 'taking' is not the issue here..I say GO FOR IT! ;)

You should see this place, it literally is a whole apartment complex (about 15-20 buildings, complete with a huge parking-lot with trees growing out of it) that was never completed due to that location's sudden change in housing demand.

I doubt it will be restore since the economy is even worse now and even the existing residential areas around that location are starting to disappear. I'm going back soon and will add daytime photos.

Thanks for all the feedback!
