I caught this hanging off the gutter on my front porch.

Very nice, did you use a polarizer?

No, just the UV filter. I set the WB on the warm side and oversaturated in RAW conversion. Then I compressed the blue in ps/cs using levels. I actually want to start over with this one, I think I went overboard on it. It's a tough call for me - it can be difficult to balance good technique with all the processing control digital offers. What I mean is, if got the shot right in the first place, I wouldn't need to make all the little tweaks. If I just could have taken one more shot...But the damn thing melted away while I was downloading and previewing the images!
Thanks all, for the good words.

JF,
Great shot. Love the green hints in the ice.
I know what you mean with all the options for tweaking. It sometimes bothers me too. I wonder if I took my original shot sometimes, with all the tweaking I do to it, whether or not it's still "my shot". I never had all these "forgiving" options with film.
It's almost too easy to produce something good (for me I mean). And I agree, if I took a great shot originally, should I even have to tweak it at all. I feel kinda guilty sometimes like I'm cheating or something, dunno. But I guess I still had the feeling of what I wanted originally and got about 95% there, so I guess I still produced a good shot with the technical know-how, ambition, and quest behind it all.
Regardless, I still like what I produce & guess that's the point.
I love your shot, whatever you did to get it to that point, YOU still did it, no one else.
Well done, love the colors. Keep it up!

Now that it is spring, I thought I'd give this winter shot a bump.

It was kind of strange to see such a pic at this time of the year, until I saw the above :D
Like the photo quite a bit btw.

Like the photo quite a bit btw.Thanks. This was taken at a time when all my knowledge of shooting slides, and the info on this forum seemed to come together. I started getting the results I envisioned. For that reason, I like this shot. It is fun to go back sometimes. I actually think my pictures are worse now, but that is just due to more experimentation.
