Is there somewhere to purchase a name-plate for your camera?

I have a 350D (Rebel XT, grr) and I'm a bit self-conscious about the name plate reading "Rebel XT" because it makes me feel inexperienced.

And don't anyone dare say buy a better camera... :p

Buy a 5d or 1ds mark III, get a screwdriver, pry off the plate, pry yours off, and use glue, and throw the worthless leftovers away or send them to me.

Can I get a bit of that action as well?

if the name of the camera makes you feel inexperienced, buying a new camera is not the first thing i would recommend....

If you really wanna mess with people, tape off parts of your camera, plate, and random parts with black tapes. When people ask what kind of cam it is, say you can't say, you work for canon, and you're testing it in the field.

What, would you rather it said 350D? Here's how I look at it. There are basically 4 types of people. Those the know and care, those that don't know and don't care, those that don't know and care, and those that know and don't care.

Your average person on the street are those that don't know and don't care. These folks don't know an XTi from a 5D Mark II. Both look like professional cameras to them.

Then there are those that don't know and care. This is a small group of people. They really don't know much about photography, but just enough to know how much equipment costs. Their images will be crap on an XTi or 1Ds Mark III.

Then there are those that know and care. They are going to know that a badge that says 350D is also known as an XTi. Granted, they should know better to not judge the photographer by the equipment that they have with them at that time. Don't let them make you feel inexperienced because you have an XTi. Only feel inexperienced if you have a lack of experience.

The last group are those than know and don't care. The majority of photographers should fall into this category. It really just goes back to the equipment doesn't make you experienced, its your actual experience that does.

That being said, I don't think there's a place that sales name badges. Maybe you want something like the Body Guard?

Just cut out holes for your buttons and viewfinder and your all set.

Would much rather have it say 350D, yeah.

Rebel XT just "feels" gimmicky to me...

Electrical tape here I come...

who cares if it says 350D or mark III in the bottom of your camera. You sound like the type of person, that if you had a spare £2500 you would buy a 1D3 just for the sake of having a 1D3 for the badge.

What car do you drive? If it is not a Mercedes, BMW, Saab, etc... then are you worried about that too? I mean, driving a Ford compared to driving a BMW....

How about your house? flat? caravan? trailer?

Its all about YOU. Not anybody else, but you. Who cares what people think? I went out earlier today on a location shoot, and had my hasselblad H3D with me. The funny looks i got as it is not the traditional SLR look to it, its more boxy. So that shoud prove, that it does not matter what camera you have, its all about yourself.

Put on that electrical tape then get a gold gild marker and make up your own name. Like "Pro" -- that'll shake things up:)!

Is it wrong of me to think that looks quite nice yet at the same time very tacky?

Actually i would not be shocked if Canon came out with the "platinum" version of a body soon with a chrome or silver dial and such

It's as if my camera is giving me the stink-eye because it's disgraced with a badge of a gimmick. It hates me for it.

I miss shooting with my AE-1

So you sell what you have, put that down on a lease for a 1Ds Mark 3 and a 300mm F2.8. This makes you feel MUCH Better, makes you look MUCH BETTER.

Just save yourself the embarrassment from posting images here :p

Before you continue, how good are you? seriously.

Many people out there want to buy the best equipment as they think, the better the camera, the better their pics - which is just not true.

If it makes you feel better, use a bit of black electrical tape. Or buy an L lens

It's not a "i want better equipment" thing, it's a "I hate the Rebel XT sticker" moniker.

If this is the case, then its down to your technique, settings, and lack of practice :)

I'll sell you this....

http://www.techdystopia.com/stuff/leicabadge.jpg

...... it's a piece of masking tape that I have crudely written Leica on. Guaranteed to fit any camera with the use of its probably patented single sided sticky nature.

Offers welcome.
