Hello all!

I guess this is my formal introduction. I am zee, and have loved taking pics and photography for many many years. I joined this forum to learn how to take more professional/crisper photos. My problem is that i know almost nothing about this field. I'm poking around this site but easily get in over my head. So my question...

Where do I start? can anyone recommend some links/books that can help me get started. I currently have a Samsung s860...lol i can hear the laughes now but i would love to put some serious money down for some better equiptment. But befre i do i'd love to get more advice (obviousily). I think this is a good starting point. If you guys need me to be more specific about anything please don't hesistate to ask. sorry bout these mundane questions but i am a true newb, who's fasinated by photography. I'm not even going to attach any pics of mine cuz there is no flame suit that can help me hahaha

cheers

Welcome!

One of the most recommended books here is Bryan Peterson's Understanding Exposure (http://www.amazon.com/Understanding-Exposure-Photographs-Digital-Updated/dp/0817463003/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1226702490&sr=8-1).

It's a great intro the the fundamentals of ISO, Shutterspeed, and Aperture.

Beyond that, this forum is an excellent resource on all matters. Be sure to check out the "Stickies" at the top of each forum for some guides and some additional resources. In general, the best way to learn is to read lots, and ask questions.

You'll find most people here more than happy to answer your questions. I've learned a tremendous amount here, and continue to learn more every day.

Have a look at Ben's Newb Guide (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=414088) which is quite good for definitions etc. Also look at the stickies at the top of this forum, there are some very good tips and links to be found.

Welcome aboard. :D

Welcome to POTN! Start here. Canon Rebel XT Newbie needs help! (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=513743)

Be sure to look at the "Similar Threads" links at the bottom-left of this page, & the "Sticky"s at the top of the forum indexes, too. You'll find everything we have found to be important in those threads.

I'm a newbie...too
Have you check around local library yet?
They should have some photography books, even old but still have a lot to learning about technique...

It explains the basics in a visual easy to follow format.

Hope it helps--Welcome to the neighborhood.
