I want to buy one but am having trouble sourcing them in the UK. Jessops et al don't seem to stock any. Can anyone suggest a brand of filter and a uk stockist that I could use. (I'm after a square filter btw.)
Thanks :D

B&H stocks them:

Unless you need to have a UK source, B&H may be the best source. Check with other UK members for the details in getting them to ship across the pond.

The Cokin filter system is what I use.
There is a filter holder for the P size, which covers the common 72 and 77mm filter sizes of the front of the lens. There is an adapter that screws into that lens, and the adapter snaps onto the actual filter holder. Then you can buy whichever Cokin P size rectangular filters you want. Technically, you can stack up to three filters into one holder. However, some users have reported getting a vignetting problem with more than one or two filters, at least if the lens focal length is very wide. Some users have reported cutting off the outer edges of the filter holder to avoid that problem, and then the holder can take only one or two filters. That's OK. Does anybody ever need more than one or two?
If you have small lenses, then you might want the A size. They are cheaper, but less useful.

I use the cokin z pro ND grads with a Lee holder, they are half the price of the Lee filters, but just as good.
Speed graphic (UK) have a selection of filters and a special offer on Lee holder + cokin z pro filters.

Thanks for all the help. I was thinking about the Cokin ones, but I've only been able to find coloured grad filters. Is one of the grays equivalent to an ND? If so, which one? Sorry for being dim :o

You're right, the greys are the Cokin equivalent to ND. I's not a true ND but close enough. I think the ref. nos. are 120 and 121 with soft and hard graduations.
I use them and like them very much.
Cheaper to replace than Lee filters should it get damaged.

Try Singh Ray (http://www.singh-ray.com/grndgrads.html). They'll make whatever true ND grad (soft grad, hard grad, 2x, 3x, 4x or higher) you want, and will ship out of the US.

Hitech (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?A=search&Q=&b=852&shs=&ci=4032&ac=&Submit.x=14&Submit.y=9) is another good brand of filters. Better than the (standard) Cokin - cheaper than Singh Ray.
