I have 2 flashes....need white background!

Thanks for any help!

I recently purchased some white seamless paper and will be doing a few family portraits in my basement in a few days.

I have 2 flash and 2 light stands and cactus transmitters to fire the flashes......I have a mini apollo softbox for the main light and then can use a micro apollo or unbrella for the other flash.

Can I light the white background with a single flash? If so how and were do I place it?

I have 2 alienbees lights. my main has a 40" octabox and my background light has a shoot through umbrella. I just set my background light a couple feet from the backdrop, aim it toward the middle and make sure i set my subject at least a few feet away from the backdrop to make sure the light doesnt spill on them.
