anyone know of a slideshow application i can embed into a web page?

without using an rss feed, picassa or flickr application?

for example Google Gadgets has this nifty slideshow ticker which points to a gallery on my HD and then runs it as a slideshow in a user configurable window.

i want something like that to embed in a web page that will look to a directory on my web server and automatically slide show the images in a small window for people browsing into my sites.

It can be done in Flash.

Look at the galleries available from http://www.flashnifties.com/ - they can do exactly what you're asking, and are cheap.

Flash is a good option. I haven't used it though. Depending on the look and feel you want, you can do it with javascript. That's how I did mine. I found it on a code sharing web site. Just do a Google search for "javascript slideshow". Many of them are free.
