which one do you prefer and why?

Between the two, I would use WhiBal. The primary difference lies in what and how you photograph. The Expodisc is slightly faster when you're shooting literally on the run, such as at a wedding. But shooting RAW and putting a WhiBal card in the scene as a neutral reference for color balancing in edit is more accurate. You can also use the WhiBal for in-camera white-balancing, but it's not as convenient. It's a heck of a lot cheaper, though.

When you are, or can, stand in same light as subject...Whi-Bal

When shooting at distant subjects in MIXED light (e.g. a gym with gas vapor discharge + FL lights)...ExpoDisc

Just so you know, that while that is my stated opinion, I own ONLY Whi-Bal. Got it 4 years ago. Single most time saving workflow shooting tool. Leads to more photos that people compliment the color of. I have 3 of them. Cheap. Water proof. Fast. Simple. Small.
