Hi guys, thanks for looking...
This was a test shot for my new Canon glass that quickly became a favourite.
I wanted to push it hard, and shooting polished aluminium in sunlight, at maximum zoom
at maximum aperture seemed like a good test.
Saturation is straight out of the camera, the default +2 on the 300D & I didn't alter it.
It passed in my opinion.
This is a LET L-13 Blanik glider and belongs to the Auckland Aviation Sports Club based
at Hobsonville airbase in New Zealand. It has a 16.2m wingspan & was manufactured in 1966, and was first flown in 1981.
She has 4600 hours of flight time logged to July 2004.
Please comment & Enjoy!

awesome! Do you find you require IS at that shutter speed? I turn mine off, as it is supposed to be a bit sharper and should prolong the life.

Hi Fills...
I am LOVING IS... It doesn't make up for sloppy technique but is amazing at what it will allow you shoot hand held. This shot was at full zoom handheld, so needed the IS. One other shot in the sequence is blurry without IS, but that could just be me. Prolong the life of what? the battery? If so, I have 4 battery packs on hand, so not a problem.
What are your experiences with this glass?
Cheers

Goose,
Great photo. It's a small world - I first learnt to fly with the Aviation Sports Club at Hobsonville in 1967. Subsequently flew their parachute drop plane and have been flying professionally ever since!

Mighty fine shot at the full limits of this lens! This is THE telephoto zoom lens I would like to get next. Won't be for many many months, unless they release something better to replace it.
Aircraft are a good subject to shoot, and it's good when your best mate is a pilot in training. (Also known as "rendezvous" at these boards). Can't wait till his trainer wheels are off, and no limitations.
I was at Whenuapai, the previous weekend, but there was no activity. Waiting patiently to shoot a moving RNZAF 757. :)
Keep up the good work.

as TQ said : Why call it a test shot ? :D
with all these good examples here, I'm getting nearer and nearer to buying the 100-400 (just have to raise the cash)

Im shooting planes all the time, its in my blood :)
I live on the flight path for Hobsonville, where the 757's are based. Next airfield over my friend.
Hey might see you around. If you see a car with 'G00SE' plates, come say hi...
Cheers...

Thanks Ikinaa... Well, thats what it started out as, but im glad you like it :)
You wont regret the 100-400, i bought a sigma 70-200 and TC and was unhappy with the quality.
That and seeing Erick's aircraft pictures on that other photo(sig) website convinced me to buy it and it is amazing... good luck with yours...
