View Full Version : Can this be salvaged?

jpeg shot with my A85 point and shoot. Taken in low incandescent light, hand held so it is very grainy. This is the best I could do to save it with my skills and PS. Unfortunately I chucked the original.
Salvage or improvements?
Better B&W?
Thanks!

I think you're probably going to be better off going with some B&W processing. Here's a sample of what might be done (still a little noisy!):

I quite like this. I cropped, converted to B&W, lightened up the cat a bit, and added a sepia filter.

Thank you both.
I tried a B&W as well but was distracted by the stripe that ran behind the cat. I haven't enough pp skills to take it out or fix the over exposed area's.
The sepia evens it out and the crop still suits the compostion.
I guess I should "practice" more and take pictures I don't have to fix!

Personally I think the first image you posted is the best of the options, it's a fantastic image and I'd leave it just as is.

I think this is so beautiful. It looks like it was taken a 100 years ago.

Hmm, multi quote not working, but I go with those that said it looked like a 17thC painting / 100 years ago etcThe moment I looked at the reposted pic (original not showing) I thought the same. It's a very interesting photo and certainly reminds me of perhaps Rembrandt or such old Dutch Master.Excellent - love it.
