Hey all,
Do any of you know if there is a tool out there that will take multiple image files and reduce them (ie. taking a file that is 6000x4000 down to 1024x768 ) in one batch as opposed to having to do them one by one?
I've got a zillion files that I'd like to resample down for the purpose distributing images for screen display.
Thanks.

It's quite simple in Photoshop CS and probably any other image application.
If you want something free IrfanView (http://www.tucows.com/preview/194967.html) will do it. Look at the batch conversion option on the file menu, check the advanced options check box, go into the advanced options, and enter the appropriate parameters.

Windows XP, ACDsee, Photoshop, probably a couple dozen others that I don't have experience with...

Do you mean the XP powertoys? It works ok for quick and dirty conversions, I wouldn't trust it with anything important.
Does ACDsee do batch conversion? I've never seen it around, but I use an old version that I like better than the new ones.

I find Irfanview most simple for batch resizing, its quite fast not too resource consuming ...

:o i've had it installed (powertoys)for so long, I had forgotten it wasn't included in the install. Personally I wouldn't trust anything "important" to a batch job anyway.. :) and yes, ACDsee does have many batch functions, including resizing. If you haven't tried v.7, you're missing out. They finally got it right with this one. I was about ready to give up after 5 and 6. Glad I didn't. Now highly recommended :D

PS CS batch jobs do most of my processing...
I use ACDsee 5, for me it's the best they've managed to produce. I might try V7 some time, but I think I tried it a month or so ago, and it was still crap at raw, which is the only flaw with 5. PS CS is what I use for anything serious anyway.
