that is absolutely gorgeous. this is one of those babies that you can tell what they will look like when they are 10,20,30 and 50 from looking at its newborn face..

WOW, great picture. I have a 4 month old and it seems like only a few months ago she was that small........oh.....wait she...

Anyway, I love the B&W one, I had a problem with too much yellow on allot of my pictures and I dimmed the lights then pointed my 550 straight up at my white ceiling. The results are pretty good. I can’t wait to see more of your pictures

Love the shots but have a question for the group. When phtoographing my own son I looked into the matter of using flash with a baby. The consensus was that they could handle the odd flash or two but not to shoot much flash with them until they were 3-6 months old.

Anyone heard anything like that?

Hi all,

Many thanks for all your great comments!
This is indeed baby #2 - we've called him Isaiyah (Pronounced 'is-ey-er', no 'eye' sounds!)
We've yet to get a good shot of him with his big sister because they're both at such fidgety ages.

I'm pleased with the outcome of this shot although it is a little soft as pradeep1 mentioned. You have to be very resourceful when you don't have much equipment; for this shot I put faux fur over a shaped quilt on the floor, and had the whole setup in the doorway between the kitchen and the dining room. The striplight in the kitchen provided the brightness I was looking for, as the lights in the rest of the house give off a yellowy effect and produce lots of noise. I also didn't want to use a flash on him because he's so little so the light you see reflecting in his eyes is actually from the kitchen.

Not quite the setup you'd be using if you were doing pro portrait photography but it works if you just want to create treasured memories you can put on your wall!
