I'm off to Sweden in a few days for a work trip, but of course am taking some gear - my 20D, 70-200 f2.8 and 17-40L.

Any tips for shooting in cold weather? I know there are issues with batteries, what about the gear itself - lenses, bodies etc?

Just looking at some weather and webcams and it is snowing ... a totally foreign experience for me. I come from sunny Queensland in Australia, where the coldest it gets is about 6 deg C :D

If you let your camera get cold and then bring it back into a warm place, you will have condensation problems on the lens surfaces and the viewfinder. So, rather than constantly making the camera go through temperature transitions, it is often best to leave it at one constant cool temperature. For me, that is outside of my coat's insulating layers but inside of the outer wind shell.

Then I keep one battery in the camera and a spare in a warm pocket. Then swap.

zip lock plastic bags lense and view finder will be the least of your problems with condensation. get yourself some 0ne gallon zip lock bags put you gear in them before going inside
