Well, I am finding out that I need a strudier tripod. The one I currently have I payed $12 for and has served me well holding up the P&S for group photos and the such. I also need to get the flash involved. Maybe a couple. My exposure times are on the long side to get any DOF. I went out in the yard today and tryed to find something alive to photogragh. This left me to moss growing on a tree and the tiny flower of a live-forever. Feel free to C&C.

To give you an idea of scale on this flower the gap in the calipers is .025 inch

Here I noticed the flower had a hitchhiker. The rest of the shots were just trying to get him in focus.

See you are finding out about DOF in macro - the little bug is a thrip- very common to find them in flowers

Thanks for the ID on the bug. Would tubes get me better results then the flipped fifty or should I go straight for the dedicated macro lens?

Not necessarily "better" but easier to control. Are you pre-setting the aperture on the flipped 50 ?

Wide open on the 50. Will stopping it down help with the DOF?
