hello,
My father has a digital canon camera, everything worked fine for about 6 months.
He now has a problem with the phototrecord program,
it used to work without a problem.
Now photorecord just won't start
I've even tried to start the exe but nothing happens.
I would like to reinstall the software but my dad lost his installation CD. Any idea why photorecord won't respond???? Or where I can download the whole software package from canon ???

thx

I just got the A40 and...

I have a Compaq computer with tons of memory running Win98se. I have had nothing but problems with PhotoRecord. No need to go into details but it is the same as discused here.

I have also had some problems with the camera itself the biggest being the fact that I only get 2hrs run time vs. the specified 4hrs. Even with NiMH batteries the time is not much better.

Here is the reply from Canon:

Dear ----,

Thank you for your inquiry.

Unfortunately we have not had this problem with other customers that are running Windows 98 before. We are sorry that your system failed to print from our software.

We do apologize for any inconveniences.

My solution:

I took the DAMN thing back and got a full refund!!!

Hi!
What kind of printer is he using? Has he recently changed his printer driver? There are known printer drivers that will not work with PhotoRecord. The application will not even open in those cases. There is a site to download PhotoRecord: www.photorecord.com, but if the version that came free from Canon is fine with him, it is less expensive to just order a replacement Digital Camera Solutions Disk by calling 800-828-4040.

The Digital Camera Solutions Disk costs $20 from Canon (unless you are still under the 30 day warrantee).
