My old friend 'Patch' agreed to sit for me, letting me get one of those rare portraits of him. Patch is a woodworker by trade. He fashions his creations without power tools, much as before the 1850's He is a master of his craft and his work is 'art' and wildly known in our local area. Being 'artsy' he is also eccentric . . . and thus won't stand much for having his photograph taken. I don't know what got into him this day. He even 'spit' his chaw for me. I did not have to ask, nor would I dare to. Out here people are given their 'berth' to be as they would be. As such we have many 'individuals, lol.

I hope Patch strikes a place with you as well.

Very nice picture 8)

Would he have used his cane on you for asking him to stand up?

Best regards,
Andy

Great shot, what happened to his eye?

He lost it in a bar fight when he was younger. A fellow gouged out his eye with his thumb. I think cause Patch took off his nose and part of his ear. You would have to ask the other guy though . . . to get a fair take on the story.

Mr. Sorensen, I'll say this:

I've looked at countless photographs since I joined this forum, and I always find myself trying to find yours first. Your photos, combined with your narratives, always put a smile on my face...

Thank you Steve. Good photographs always have a story that goes with them . . . a feeling or mood for which they were created. They are an expression of ourselves to a great extent. So-so photographs can be improved with a 'good story-line,' helping also ran's to be over achievers . . .

It only takes a few moments to write and one gets to 'play with words' as well as share your view or expressions regarding the post. So many 'throw' up a picture with a tag line, 'Look at This!" or "What do You Think?" and leave it all up to you. I suppose I did this at the first, but after I read one of the sticky's at the top of the page(s) where Pekka asks very plainly that we —

"Be sure your post title includes some description of image content. Try write something about the images: story, what camera, what settings, circumstances, lighting... something."

I know that I like to see the lens and camera used in other posts . . . so I am on a one may crusade to show that a little time spent in the preparation of a post will help, everyone. Much more enjoyable for all involved. And if you don't want to read the byline . . . the photograph is still there.

I am glad that someone did read the simple preamble, thank you.

I would never call your preamples simple, and they certianly add to the photograph.

Its a great image, you should print it , frame it, and quitly leave it somewhere for him to find.

Have you ever shot any of his work?

I am sure Patch could tell many stories. Your photo of him does as well. As others have said, your shots are always great to see and read !

Just a terrific photograph, and the story adds a lot, as well. I truly admire people like him, and there are still a few around here. The tools he uses tell much about his character...loyalty and persistence.

Great work, as always.
