Did my first E-Session for some friends of mine, so I could continue to build a portfolio. It was at the local botanical gardens and the leaves had fallen just right, so it made it quite a colorful day.
Tell me what you think.

Number 3 is a great idea for a shot.

I think 7 is only good if she is pregnant, personal opinion...
3 is by far my favorite, great idea.
The rest all are very well executed, no complaints. Love what you got here.
actually 5 I think would be better if you framed in side one window frame the bottom portion is kinda useless, not lighting anything, just dead space so to speak. Other than that, nice.

Thanks.
#7 is actually across the small of her back. But I guess everyone's perspective is different so I have one's panned out where it shows more of her back.
For #5, I suppose I could crop the bottom out because it can be distracting.
Thanks for looking.

Yes! I did take some of their wedding as a guest. They weren't too excited about their photographer's E-session, so I redid one for them - no charge. She was ecstatic about them.

I like when people critique my sets thouroughly, so ill do the same.
1. I like this shot. I think you would have been better taking it a little higher above them and less to the side.
2.Great shot!
3. I love the dof around the ring, but his hand seems a little high for an engagement session, just something to look at.
4. I like the shot, but same as three, if his hands would have been a few inches higher it would have made the shot. Good shot regardless.
5. Great pose and execution!
6.i Like this idea, however the shed door in the background is distracting.
7. Great idea!!
8. I think a closer crop on this one would be excellant! Im sure you have some closer.
Great series, keep it up!

Thanks for the thorough comments. For #4, she gave me heck for the "hands on butt shot", but she liked it. I was waiting for someone to call me out on the open barn door. I thought I got away with it..you just had to. :D

The expression on her face in #1 is priceless. If I were the client I would buy that one in a heart beat. I agree that 7 would be great if it were a maternity shot. They are, over all, very nice. Well lit, in focus, and thought out. But I must say, I dont care for the fact that #4 is basically just a shot of his hands on her ass...

Oh, and Three is great too. I have never quite seen that take on a shot of the ring. I think it works.

I was looking at these thinking... wow, the colors are horrendous. Then I went and looked at more pics thinking geeze, everyone has horrible colors!! Then I opened my folder of my most recent work and noticed... HORRIBLE color. So, I decided to look and see what profile my system had loaded for the monitor and noticed that somehow through the magic of the internet and auto updates, the manufacturer profile had become my default profile and somehow my last profile creation which was 3 or 4 months old was gone. I repofiled with my OptixXR and I'm all better now. So... all that said...
Your pictures have GORGEOUS color. #4 and #6 are so vibrant and beautiful it reminds me of Kodak's Portra VC film.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm getting heck for the butt shot, some like it and some don't, but in the end i guess it's up to the client. Thanks for the comments.

Man, I was reading the beginning of this post and I was thinking "Geez, this guy is being a little harsh, considering most people liked it". Then I read on and was relieved to see that the colors went from HORRENDOUS to GORGEOUS. Thanks for the CC.

Very nice set, I like #3 a lot. What did you use for a light setup, or this all natural lighting?

The weather that day was challenging. Very cloudy and rained off and on. So I used my 580 EX II for fill flash.

#5 stands out for me. #3 is also great but I would have liked full BW version more.
