gallery 2 problem

I having a problem with gallery2. Overtime, my uploaded pics begin to go bad. What I mean is after the initial upload, the thumbnail will refuse to load. After more time, even clicking on the file name wont work. The original sized pick will just show with a broken pic icon. After this happens It usually means I have to re-upload and all will be good until the next time.

have you ever done the maintenance tasks in the admin area? Off the top of my head I think there is an option to rebuild thumbnails, delete caches etc...
