Tried taking some more pics today in the evening. Not sure what I am doing wrong, but they are not nearly as crisp and clear as the pics posted daily on this forum.

BTW, ive tried touching these up in PS 8.0, but they still arent that great. Any advice on improving my settings, technique etc would greatly be appreciated.

Snow Pics (http://alex-denson.fotopic.net/c449211_1.html)

1st pic settings: 1/320 sec f/5.6 55.0 mm ISO 400
2nd pic : same same 47.0 mm ISO 200

Oh, if anyone could tell me how to get the address of these pics ( ending with .jpg, as opposed to the .html page), that would be great. This way I can embed them.

Normally the meter gets tricked by snow shots. Try setting the exposure compensation to +2 stops, or one and see if that helps. :D

OK, i'll try tomorrow.

I should mention that I tried doing a custom WB by shooting a pic of the snow, and selecting that as my white balance for these shots.

Slightly overexposing snow shots to compensate for the meter being fooled by the reflective light is a good idea. But I believe you should be able to save the whites in these with levels and curves adjustments in PS.

As for the pics, I wish the dog didn't have the bench in the background - if there was just snow or a solid color, I think it would have been better. But it's tough to get good at controlling those things during an action shot.

The other one is a little too centered and soft (focus) for my tastes. Possibly a different perspective/angle and a little more DOF might help.
