They applied the modification and it came back as stiff as BigEd. Careful how you react to that sentence!

Anyway, it works great and nice to have the camera "whole" once again.

Just as an aside, if pulled down hard enough I can still make the grip lose contact. So, I pulled out the old trust 10D with BigEd attached voila! Same pressure applied and power is gone! So, with that, I am very confident I will not have an issue with the BG-E2 as it is now as strong as BigEd.

Did you have the false low battery warning before, and if so, has that been cleared up too? My BG-E2 didn't give me a problem with the loss of contact (and it was a late-September/early October ship) without extra effort, but the "Low Batt' really bugs me.

Never saw that issue, but we haven't used the camera all that much since buying it.

Jim, this is all the motivation I need. I talked to Canon about the grip, and they told me to send it in, i was still a bit skeptical. I'm gonna ship it out to Tennesse one of these days.
Glad to hear the grip works better now. Mine's really pissing me off.

Make sure you supply your email address in case they decide that they might want to charge you for it. At first they said they wanted $50 as it was a non-warranty repair. We reminded them it wasn't, and they apologized for the mistake, fixed it and shipped it within two days with two-day air shipping. And yes, my grip was out of warranty.
