Taken with my Sigma 105mm 2.8 lens. Lighting was a Profoto Head with an octobox directly over head, with two mirrors to reflect back on some highlights onto the needle. I did a small gradient effect by flagging the light on the rear of the octobox. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3228/3041634943_35d6692874_b.jpg The needle itself was about an inch long, so it's quite amazing what this macro lens can do.
