I need to burn a few CD's of D30 images for friends and family and wanted to know what others use for these slide shows. I know Window XP has the built-in slide show viewer but I haven't been able to burn a CD and get it to run automatically.

Is there another cool slide show viewer that can be included on a CD and start automatically so Grandma doesn't have to do anything besides insert the CD?

Thanks!

You might try Pictures2exe. Works good for me.

Interesting question.

You see, I have really just been using digital for screen backgrounders. The natural thing for me to do re a slide show, is simply place them into Power Point Presentation. I know that software.

And that is exactly what I did with 43 of the images that I have posted on this site. Typically these images are jpeg and about 50K each -- say about 2 megs
. But wait a minte ! What blew my sock off was when my saved PPT file weighed in at 66 megs.

So, I like PPT: the options, text generation, layerying, overlapping of images, image resizing, last minute fills, last minute outline options, plus the convet to web options.

But.. 66 megs ? Whoaaa !

Hey am I missing something here guys ?

CompuPic Pro is one of the best I have seen. When you burn the cd it places the software on the cd that lets any computer show the slide show. You can also add music files to the slide show.

I also use it batch rename my photo files, print thumbnails, etc.

The built-in XP utility can't create an exportable file. It is however extremely useful and convenient for slide shows that you want to give on your PC. We just did a couple in Florida with a rented 4000 lumen digital projector (wow!) and didn't find the need to use any software beyond the XP utility. Of course if you're a fan of fancy wipes and such that's a different story.

Thanks for all the replies. After looking them over, I really like the CompuPic "Pro Show" product. It is $29 but can generate an .exe file of the show in just a few seconds. Looks polished and well thought out.

I use irfanview. It will generate an EXE file or a SCR file. The exe is good to email or upload to the WWW for grandparents to download to their own computer or pop onto a CDR.

Best of all, irfanview is free.

Pictures2exe........... while it is not free, it is the best I've found. Allows you to control almost everything, including disabling print, adding an expiration date, music, transitions, plus your files are not shown individually, just the program file which is a big plus in my opinion. I tried out Flip Album, didn't like it at all; also tried Ifranview, and several others. Pictures to exe beat them all out for my needs.
