I thought I would post this on the Forum Talk section, but since this is the most active area of the forum, I am posting here. I am a regular here and recently a bit of nostalgia hit me and I started getting into rangefinder photography...film photography.

I joined a very nice and similar group at http://www.rangefinderforum.com/, which has its equivalents of CDS, Belmondo, Scottes, IndyJeff, and other exotic animals. One thing that caught my eye today was that some members got together and have put together a book of photographs.

http://www.rangefinderforum.com/modules.php?name=News&file=showarticle&threadid=4256

It is called: Rangefinder Photography: 25 Photographers -- One Passion, and is a book displaying 50 photographs taken with rangefinder cameras by rangefinder devotees from around the globe.

I thought that maybe there would be some interest in getting something like that started over here. I'd be in for purchasing a book of photographs made by our beloved members and I am guessing we can work out a way to help support Pekka's server costs.

What do you guys think?

VERY good idea pradeep:D

And after seeing the results of Tim's recent 'WOW' photo comp,i'm sure we can do a whole lot better than a book full of moody artsy fartsy B&W street photograghy;)

Just one question-what does the forum need $ for? Not trying to be smart,i just have no idea about such things

Just a quick note: I've used lulu.com in the past to publish some 4-color image books. Quality is ok, not great. It is digital printing after all. No where near as nice as traditional offset printing but you can't beat it for reasonable pricing and the ability to publish one book at a time.

Not my idea...but I thought we could adapt it a bit. Also if Pekka can cover his server costs 100%, he could add other features, or just buy more Canon bodies. Most sites are commercial sites that have forums as an add-on. For example http://www.luminous-landscape.com. The person who owns that draws a good part of his income from that site. But this is a site that is primarily a watering hole/gathering place for quirky Canon gearheads, lunkheads, and no-heads - very little commercial usage. Heck, Pekka didn't even think about asking for money until recently. So maybe Pekka can commercialize it and provide for himself in the process. Don't know...just some ideas....we might also raise money to do neat things, like this forum project:

I'm in. I'm sure that I could dig up a couple decent shots, too. And I'd love to buy a copy myself.

Seems like this would be a lot of work to put together... Any volunteers?

I could help with the graphic design side of things... I do it for a living.

I PM'ed Belmondo The Gray and he said that he'll discuss with you about possibly making this a sticky somewhere to see if we can attract attention/talent/flames, etc. ;)
