What do you guys think? I have both the Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Zoom Lens AND the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0L USM Zoom Lens.

Will I get better performance using the 70-200 L with a 1.4 extender when I need that extra length? Is there any point in keeping both of these lenses or am I better off selling the 75-300 and putting that $$ toward something else?

some times it is handy having the 75-300mm tho as you may find you need a lens with some zoom at both ends of the scale

I had the 75-300 IS, then I bought the 70-200 f4 and was so pleased with the results from it I sold the 75-300 IS. I then got a 1,4x extender to get almost the same length.

The 75-300 IS has the advantage that is is smaller than the 70-200 + extender. But image quality is not as good.

Keep the 70-200 L, even with a 1.4 TC the image quality from this combo will be far superior to the 75-300.

The L is probably better. But the IS has IS. The 4.0L does not. A lot depends on what and how you are shooting.

The IS is the only thing I missed for a while when I sold my 75-300. Now I have bought a 300 mm f4 L IS prime :D

I sold my Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Zoom Lens and bought the Canon EF100-400 L IS. What a difference! Glad i took that step. :)

That's my tact exactly. The 70-200 f4 L is on its way as we speak. Will be selling the 75-300 IS. Glad to see the back of the unbelievable slow autofocus. Will miss the IS, but that well made up for by the better image quality and fast autofocus.

Planning to buy the 1.4x TC and/or 300 f4 L IS next.

Or maybe, by the time I've saved up, Canon will have brought out a new version of the dated 100-400 L IS  with a fluorite element to improve the image quality.
