There has been a bit of discussion in regards to permissions to include photo's in the POTN book. Does anyone know the etiquette / rules for images of Motor Rally's in the UK? I believe on circuits, permission is required to use photo's for anything other than personal use. Do the same type of rules extend to Rally's particularly those held on public roads? Any pointers would be appreciated.

Well the law is fairly clear. If you are shooting in a public place (and assuming the subject doesn't have a reasonable expectation of privacy which you are invading) then anything is "fair game" for editorial use.

If you are shooting on private property then the property owners have the right to impose a condition of entry which prohibits photography or restricts the use of photography in any way they see fit. All of the UK circuits have such a clause which limits photography to private / personal use only.

The Jim Clark by any chance ? ;)

Public roads, freely accessible, no entry ticket required and no statement of T&C's from the organisers.

Submit away.
