Great shot! Shame there isn't a bit more blur on the rotors :)

Gorgeous shot. Proves the adage, Location. Location and Location!

Thanks. Yeah I broke my own rule about blade movement!
I was in a hurry and about to refuel on the other side of the lake, forgot to check my shutter speed, doh!

Very Cool.

Is that a mirror hanging down there Mick? Flying power lines in this bird?

Is it ice or is it a salt flats? I assumed salt since the OP is in Oz but maybe it is ice...

Mick?

Thanks guys.
Yeah it is a salt lake in the middle of West Australia.

The mirror is just for seeing the sling hook underneath. This helicopter is used for Aero-Magnetic work where it fly's with a 100 foot line with a 100 foot dia. round aerial attached, which is used for finding minerals. The black aerial sticking out the front on the right hand side is an HF radio aerial.

These are the first helicopter shots with my new 16-35. I love this lens!

Great job and awesome photo Mick. I doubt I would have passed the opportunity either!
(And, FWIW, I like the prop blur - effective enough to convey motion without overkill!)
