I stuck my head out the back door to see if there were any "Little Birds" to take pictures of today . . . and to my surprise I found one of my outside cats in the "Catbird Seat."

It was so funny to watch, she wanted those birds but there was NO way she could get to them, before they ate and run off, or flew as the case maybe. Can not blame her for trying, but these birds know their stuff.

Thanks guys . . . I am sorry it is more amusing than good photo work . . . but you have to make do with what you are given. Glad I did not pass on this one. I took a series and the cat moves over the feeder . . . but of course the birds leave.

Well she goes back to the catbird seat, yep the birds come back.

RJ,
Just my opinion, but a photograph is good if it is enjoyed. I thought it was so funny, I shared it at work during lunch. Your photo was enjoyed by many. We all had a good laugh and many cat stories were exchanged.

I had a thought.

Imagine that the bird feeder is suspended on a continuous "clothes line" going around spindles on the ends with a motor to turn one. Effectively, the bird feeder would move back and forth, depending on the motor control.

Then put the motor control stick on the top of the catbird seat. See how long it takes the cat to learn how to move the control to get the bird feeder closer.

But then you, the human, have another control inside the house, and you can override what the cat learns to do.

That would be a fascinating experiment and fun to photograph.

LOL, Bob . . . I suppose we could do this. You would have to do the 'smart part' I might be able to put it together . . . think we could sell it?

I don't know if we can sell it, but your cat wants to be in the field trial.

This is a GREAT photo. To me, even if a photo is not perfect, if it captures a moment I want to remember and brings me joy in the years ahead, then it is a great photo. Sometimes I just want a little of the technical stuff to go away....... I Always enjoy your 'stuff' RJ.
You too, Bob G.

Don't worry, I don't come over to the Central Valley unless it is Sandhill Crane season. Your turf is safe.

I'll be in black bear country in two weeks (Tuolumne Meadows).

March is when the bears end their winter sleep and begin to forage around.

Thanks for reminding me about the 'Catbird Seat' - I'm off to google to find a print.

Funny shot too!

Update - Two years ago I called into an art gallery in Kirkcudbright in Scotland and saw a painting entitled "Sitting in the catbird seat" it was by an American woman (i think) I almost bought it and then decided not to. I often wish I had. Google has no help - anyone know what I am rambling about? :)
