This is my very first long exposrue attempt. What do you guys think? I think i could of gone a bit longer. Maybe tonight I try again. C&C please. Any pointers on fstop? I think i might need to go up to f11 or so and leave the shutter open much longer.

That's a great shot. I know some people like the background and foreground objects to be darker, but I like it when it almost looks like a daytime shot...but not. Very nice for a first try! :)

My only comment might be to rotate the camera so the tree to the left or right is straight up. It think it'll give a more natural perspective for the viewer. Looks just slightly "off" with both trees converging. Probably to do with the 10mm I guess.

I think it looks just fine and that wide lens sure gives a very nice wide-field look ! I like it !

Very nice shot. I'd like to try shooting at 10mm one day.
Unfortunately it looks like you had some thin clouds/poor transparency. Doesn't bother the look of the shot but it does play into making any light pollution nearby or distant a bit worse. Light pollution is so bad at my place I'd get a pink/white looking shot at 447 sec./f4.

Thanks, i tried some more but the street lights from the from of the house light up the trees way to much on a 10min exposure. I need to find super dark area with no lighting but only the sky.

Good pic for a first try. Way better than my prior attempts. What was your focus point?

Not too bad!
Looks like color temp is WAY cooled down. Like 3400?
That's the trouble when you have haze or dust, you have to drastically drop the temp or all you will see is orange haze.

Well, I like it. I agree about the trees, and lining at least one of them up. But you done way better than I have in my 2 attempts :)

5200k In raw mode on my 30D. That what i took the original with, then PP. The haze in the left was clouds rolling in in the middle of the shot.

Thank you. After the rain decides to pass here in socal I will attempt another try, but this time of the sky with no foreground.
