Shot with a Canon G10. This was taken free hand in Macro AF, with my custom
flash diffuser and the camera held out in front of me. The white shiney section
you see around my pupil is the flash diffuser reflection. Also, this was NOT shot
in RAW, just JPG.
A lot of PP was done here, but those are the natural colors of my eye. Total PP
time was about an hour and a half.

You can actually see the texture of my eyeball here. This is cropped at 50%...

Not bad. I do find the eyebrows a little over powering.

wow, i really like those shots, i dont think the eyelashes and eyebrows are overpowering, i just think they stand out a lot, and personally, i like it. I am new to photography and I have what many would call a "stupid question", but what exactly does a flash diffuser do?

Nice job, how did you put that flash diffuser together?

lots of contrast and highlighting.
when im Post Processing an image that im looking to give that extra edge
to, I edit in reppeated steps. ill go back and forth between gamma and contrast, shadow/highlight, replace color, and curves numerous times. each time you make an edit with a certain feature something else needs to bwe touched up. 32 bit processing has a lot to do with it too...

thank you.
a flash diffuser softens and spreads the light around. this creates
a more evenly lit subject without any hot spots and over exposed
areas. when the flash fires and the light hits my diffuser, it spreads
around the semi-circle and glows in a controlled and even manner.

the diffuser is made from the top of a CD stack. i cut the bulk
off the back, cut a hole in the center, then sanded it down. i cut the
bottom off so that i can get the camera as close to the ground as
possible for certain shots.
the diffuser snaps around the lip on the rear section of my lens adapter,
and easily rotates so i can controll where the lights distributed. i meant for
this to work similar to a light ring, and it does just that. right now im working
on a custom ring light using LEDs and Milky Plexiglass :D

heres another shot taken with the diffuser...
