View Full Version : Ft DeSoto Park - Reddish Egret ?

I have never before seen an egret with this coloring. It's like a Great Blue, but has reddish areas along wings, neck and upper legs. I did read about "reddish egrets", so this may or may not be its official name.

Its a Great Blue Heron. The tan patches are pretty normal in an adult.

Florida does have a Reddish Egret, but that is not in the photo.

Thanks, fellas. I've seen many GBH's but never noticed the tan patches before. Guess I added 2 + 2 and got 5.

Another nice set. Can't believe you got photos of so many different birds in one day! I'm jealous.
