PBS just premiered a documentary on bald eagles this past weekend called The American Eagle (http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/american-eagle/introduction/4201/). It shows a couple of active eagle nests, one along the Mississippi River, and another further inland in MN. Also it talks a little bit about the Alaska Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve, where I visited last year. The documentary is really interesting with great cinemaphotography. Definitely worth a watch! Check your local listings (http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/schedule) or watch it online (http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/american-eagle/video-full-episode/4349/).

Yeah, I thought it was really cool to see them focus on eagles here in the upper midwest. They've made such a great recovery here, and Minnesota now has the 2nd largest population of nesting pairs (after Alaska of course.)

It was an interesting show with great images even though it left the impression the the Bald Eagle was an US bird.

Yes, they could have mentioned that the bald eagle was never endangered in Alaska OR Canada!
