OK:)
I read that the effective focal length of the 20D is 1.6 times greater than the full frame 35mm equivalent. So, do you actually get a magnification of the image that is 1.6 x greater than, say with an ef-s lens? Does the remaining part of the picture captured on what would be a full frame picture simply "spill over the edge" of the CMOS sensor and vanish?:( Does this mean I should only get the EF-s Lens, or perhaps only the EF-s in the smaller focal lenght's (<35mm)?  Is there already a thread or perhaps a site with a better explanation?

Yes you only get the middle bit of what you would see a fullframe camera.

No you don't only need to get ESF lens, they are only for use on 20D, 300D & 350D and can't be used on fullframe cameras, any Canon EF lens and newer compatibles will work. Some say that because you only using the centre portion of the EF lenses, you using the best bit.
