some cool cars. My very newby opinon is that the depth of field is too shallow. What do you think about the car in focus and panning to blur the background? Great job cheers

Hi Tucke,
I'm not sure that I understand what you mean by your statement ?

they are a little blurry... might wanna use a higher shutter speed and work your way down to a slower shutter speed.

Think the blur might be the point!

Hi Atky,
Yay!! At least someone gets it.
I figured you would but I didn't think it would need explaining
Can't remember the shutterspeed on those but about somewhere between 1/60th and 1/20th sec I think. Did some other stuff at 1/10th and 1/8 as well.
Just as well I didn't find any of them hills - LOL
For those who need an explanation of these pics -
Most of the car doesn't look sharp due to the fact that I was on the inside of a corner using a wide-ish (20-35mm) lens and slow shutter speed AND fill flash.
Beacuse of moving through the corner, the car moves through different planes whilst panning and only a minimal part of the car, in both cases the door sticker area, remains in focus during the exposure hence the blurriness of the rest of the shot unlike panning on a straight where the film plane remains the same.
It is not bad photography, it IS the effect I was after. It accentuates the speed and motion of the car.
Also, just in case it needs clarifying, the white spots and streaks in the shots are not crap on the sensor but the light from the flash bouncing off the rain that was falling at the time.

Thanks Stavros,
Faster than I thought.
I shot so much and did heaps of different shutter speeds over the weekend couldn't remember exactly what they were and really could be bothered checking the EXIF data.
Regards
Phil
