That appears to be a Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus).

Cool shot! I've snapped some eagles and hawks, but haven't been able to spot an owl yet... I'm looking forward to it though.

Question : Did you shoot with flash? (Thought so because of his eyes)
Isn't that a bit blinding for the owls, as they has very good night vision.
Has any of our Owl-Specialists out there an opinion?

I am not an owl specialist. But I once asked our zoo about using flash at their show with a horned owl and a harris hawk. They said it does not matter. The birds will just think the flash is lightning which occurs naturally. Constant light like a flashlight however is not good.
