This was an accidental shutter snap while climbing the tower of the Duomo in Florence, Italy. Although it is severly out of focus and there is so much wrong with it, I found it kind of interesting in a ghostly sort of way.
Am I completely out in left field? Share your honest thoughts.
This photo makes me wonder.... Do you as photogs ever take pictures that seem so wrong but draw you to try and make something out of it for reasons unknown?

If you concocted some sort of an elaborate story about how you agonizingly calculated how to capture this precise shot, it might have a better effect. As it is, I think it's sort of cool in an "accidental photo" kind of way. Beyond that, like quite a few of my own, similar shots, it's probably got more sentimental value than artistic value. Sorry to say - for both of us ;o)

I agree..but..doesn't it look like he printed the photo on a bed sheet or something? I think that effect is actually pretty cool..You should call it your 'shroud of Turin' effect ;)

I actually really like it, a lot. It kind of gives me the "walking towards the light" feeling, only very disoriented, so like a stumbling towards the light feeling really. Just enough clarity to see what I'm looking at, but enough motion to make it come alive. I think without your admittance to mistake people would eat this picture up, like jsv said, if you came up with some elaborate story I have a feeling it would be seen in a different light :).
And yes I've snapped some random pictures before and been quite surprised by them. And I have a bad habit of keeping the trash pictures, in hopes that some day I may look at them and come up with some sort of artistic idea to fix it.... I'm slowly getting over that though, if I don't see potential right off I try to pitch most of the bad ones.

Thanks all for the feedback. It wasn't completely an accident. I was shooting in AV and had my camera set to shoot landscapes out the different openings as we climbed the tower. When I saw this window I wanted to stop and take a "creative" shot but I was too tired from climbing and there was a steady stream of people both climbing up and down (it gets pretty cozy). I should say the picture was more extremely lazy than accidental.
I didn't want to stop and didn't have time to change settings so I lackadaisically pointed and snapped the shutter. I felt it was a "happy accident" mostly because I absolutely loved the history in Europe and thought this sort of had a haunted castle feel to it.
Ever drive to work in the morning and the photographer in you "sees" shots that you can't stop to take (not to mention your gear is at home). It was one of those moments sort of. I was drawn to the window but couldn't stop so I did slightly more than nothing.
Here is one of the "on purpose" shots.

I must have missed that because I am almost 40 and not married but kind of settled. Maybe I should hit rewind on my 8-track player ;)

OK, so based on the last comment I obviously missed the reference you made. Thanks to google I now know what "Friday night/saturday morning" thing means. Apparently I was referring to drunken stupors I experience in college.
