What's that "halo" around #3?
Weird cropping: #1 and #5 probably cannot be printed. It looks like you forgot to crop #2.

Good action...seems a bit too much PP.

i don't get your pp'ed cropping.

to me, the way you crop, it seems to tell me that you aren't paying attention to what you are shooting. maybe cause I'm used to cropping into either the 2x3 or 4x5 format.

i would suggest using M to shoot, since you can get a decent SS still @ ISO 3200. Concentrate more on framing as close as possible to what you want to shoot.

Just to clarify, I'm not shooting for prints or print sales (my work is for the athletics dept. website and a multimedia project) and so I'm cropping these the way I would crop my fineart pics. That's why they're not "standard" crops.

The PP was just put in at the request of the AD, that's why #3 has that halo affect. It's not there in the final high-res pic.

thanks for the feedback. I have really just started shooting basketball and until I get my 1D back I'm working extra hard with the 20D (slower focusing and ISO3200 is wicked noisy). Hopefully I'm headed in the right direction though.

Good action shots. I am still working on mine, the holidays are killing me.

A general comment on all of these is that they look a bit dark. I know you're already at ISO 3200, so it might be time to think about getting a f/1.4-f/2 pime if you'll be shooting in this gym a lot. (Or use remote triggered speedlights)

I second Aaagogo's suggestion to shoot manual exposure. In 99% of gyms, the lighting is extremely consistent. Av is easily confused by floor reflections and backlight, and caused some inconsistent exposures in this set.

I think #4 is the best of the lot, but watch the feet.

thx again for the advice. I have a bball shoot coming up on Tuesday so I'll give Manual a try for at least a half.
