These are from the show last night. Shot from the soundboard with a 400mm f5.6L, 1D Mark III and monopod. Not the greatest conditions to shoot in but I'm pretty happy with what I came away with.

gotta say 6 seals the deal for me. some are a bit soft, which is the hazards of shooting a long lens.

When I shoot with my 400mm f/2.8 from the light board I like to use my 1.4TC and put the rig on a full Wimberley head ... I FULLY appreciate your choice of equipment and the difficulties involved and think it's a shame there was no pit and that you didn't have a faster ultra-telephoto ... I would certainly have loaned you mine, sigh. I, too, like #5 and #6.

Thanks Tim and Dwight.
How I'd love to have a 400 f2.8 or 500 f4 in my kit but they are way out of reach for my budget. They are too expensive to hire here and the amount of use I would get from owning either wouldn't justify the cost. But if I win the lottery...

Well, as I say, you can always borrow mine if you are nearby! :-) I am extremely fortunate that I don't have to justify any of my equipment or I would probably have a Rebel ... with the kit lens!

I am shooting Mellencamp tonight @ the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. I will be using the exact same set up as you. (I would love to have the 400 f2.8 in my kit...if only huh). Hope I am not 2 far away from the stage and that I can get some usable shots.
You have done great under difficult shooting conditions, congrats.
(how far away from the stage were you, roughly?)

Thanks Janine,
I would have been at least 50 metres from the stage. If you can get elevated or all you will see is the crowd in the way. Good luck!

Geez I hope that I can get a clear view with no crowd in the way.
Thanks for wishing me luck. Hope I can post some good shots on here also!
