I'm brand new to photography (still trying to learn all about the different things I can do with my Rebel XT), but I came across HDR and the images look amazing. From what I've read I know my camera can do it but I'm having a hard time figuring out the settings to take a HDR image. Does anyone have the same camera model as mine would like to give me a little step by step instruction on setting up the settings? Also does the settings need to be re-programmed once the camera is turned off or do they still stay the same. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Well, first of all welcome to the forum.
I'm not too familiar with the XT but own the XTi/400D, you want to have a scan through your manual for Auto Exposure Bracketing - You want to turn this on when required and off when not required, when you turn in on you want to select two stops under/over.
You can process HDR from single pictures but this would be the best option, IMO, for you to use.
Once you have your pictures you now need to begin your HDR post processing, I posted a link to some videos which can be seen below;

It was taken from the following thread where you may find some more useful info;

My attempts at HDR have been pretty poor to be honest, so the more experienced users on here may be able to provide further info if required.
Cheers,
Jason
