The tone mapping on these appears very subtle in my eyes, but definitely brought out some details from the original shots. I guess it doesn't look very HDR because the light was quite flat.

Yes, grapes. There are a few little vineyards by the lake just south of Zürich. These plots of land have got to be worth millions and millions if subdivided, and probably don't generate a lot of income from the grapes. But the land has been in these families for generations, so they are quite happy to live comfortable but modest lifestyles without a care that they are sitting on a fortune.

IMO, the BEST HDR shots are the ones that don't have that "overdone" look. The point of HDR (in my mind) is not to make some cartoonish, unrealistic image; rather it is to create a rendering which more closely approximates what the human eye is able to perceive.
