Hey Folks,
Can anyone suggest a decent free hosting site that's not going to go terribly gung-ho with banners and popups? I don't mind a couple of banners, but at one point I had used Freeservers.com and they have become unbelievable with the pop ups (I've had folks complane about as many as 10 to 15 popups just trying to log onto the page). When I was using 987mb most people I knew couldn't access the site because of some kind of "illegal activity". Needless to say I'd like to avoid these kinds of problems if possible.

Now please...again I'm looking for a FREE webhosting site...if you're going to tell me that "so and so has such & such for only $9.95 a month" or something similar, then please save it. I may go with a premium service later at some point but for now I just need some place to get my website back online and I really don't have time to go searching thru them one by one to see who's decent and who's a scam.

Thanks!
Jim

I use Photobucket although it does not seem to that popular around here..
I also have block popup windows ticked in my browser preferences..

I'm not actually looking for a picture hosting site...I use Imageshack for that. I'm looking for a hosting site for a website...something like Geocity or Anglefire used to be. I pretty much have my website built (with the exception of a few updates), I need someplace that I can upload it to, preferably with an online editor/file manager. Freeservers had been great when they first started, but over the past couple of years their "free" hosting has become so littered with popups and banners and such that most folks never even get to the actual webpage.

Peace,
Jim

You can purchase a domain name from Godaddy for $10 a year, and using their free hosting, you only get their banner at the top of the page, no pop-ups.

If you have Internet access at your home, you probably have some hosting space available with that company as part of your service. I use mine to host a few things and use cloaked settings through my domain registrar to make it look like a "real" hosted website.

If you can suck it up and pay a measly $7-9 a month, you can be ad-free. My sites use BlueHost (http://www.bluehost.com/track/cdi/potn). Primary domain registration is included in the price.
